Simulation Exercise: Brief
Date: 10 November 2.30 – 4.00 pm
You will be provided a group task based on evolving scenarios in global politics, you will be asked to take the role of strategic analysts of global events based in the United Nations office of the Secretary General, to convene in an emergency situation and work out together a set of solutions and recommendations to the Secretary General of the United Nations. This task does not require pre-preparation it is a participation activity to generate an environment where you get to discuss and negotiate real world policy matters and come up with recommendations.
You will get 30 minutes to work as a team/group and 15 minutes of presentation time
Grading is mainly for participation, there is a simplified grading policy which will be adopted.
10 Marks: The group manages to address all 5 issues at hand and your solutions are evenly distributed across solutions and recommendations for the 5 challenges.
9 Marks: The group focuses well on all five issues, but your recommendations are not equally distributed across the presentation time frame
8 Marks: The group does not focus sufficiently on all 5 themes and are not able to articulate your recommendations for at least 4 issues in your presentation
